Alison Locke worked in publishing and for a development agency before studying photojournalism at the London College of Printing in 1998-1999. She has been working on a longterm documentary project about the Gurkhas since early 1999, during which time she has travelled to Nepal and Sierra Leone to document their lives. She has also worked on photographic projects for NGO's in Laos, Cambodia, Mozambique and Sierra Leone.
