Volunteers at Zoom In have the opportunity to get involved in all aspects of the centre and in a number of different ways. As a well established but small charitable organisation, we are always very grateful for any time and skills that can be offered to us. Assisting tutors during course time, developing education projects and helping out on our exhibition programme are examples of the range of activities you can get involved with. Some of the more exciting activities available, and remember its all voluntary, range from doing the washing up to those little tasks collectively known as “stuffing envelopes”. I am sure you are all eager to get involved so don't all rush now.

However, an integral part of this scheme is to get volunteers involved in areas they are interested in learning about or where they want to gain experience. We also call on volunteers to assist with running the darkroom outside of our usual opening hours for our members who can only access the facilities in the evenings and at weekends due to work commitments.

Others come in to Zoom in to help us develop various strategies (e.g. fundraising, accounts, exhibitions, health and safety) intrinsic to our ongoing growth and development.

By getting involved with various tasks, our volunteers not only ensure that we can provide an excellent and efficient service but also gain valuable experience and training that they are able to use to further their own interests and careers in both arts, photography and business skills.

Have a look at our Volunteering Activities to see what kinds of things you could get involved with. Why not also check out some of the activities that our volunteers have been involved with over the years by looking at our Volunteers Profiles. Or fill out our Volunteers Application Form to become a volunteer of Zoom In.

Zoom In also offers a great work placement programme for young people and those returning to work please see our Work Placement Activities page for more details.
