Course Modules

Duration of the course
Travel Photography - Level 2 may be taken as two three-hour days on consecutive Saturdays or on consecutive weekday evenings. In either course the outline is split up into two sessions of approximately three hours each. These sessions comprise the following:

Aim of the course
Throughout this course you will learn to understand the difference between a holiday snap and travel photography. You will learn how to research and develop ideas and through discussion and produce a body of work to demonstrate the skills you have learnt.

Materials Needed for the course
Students will need:
A 35mm SLR camera film or Digital (film cameras can be borrowed from Zoom In for an additional fee)

For those with film cameras:
At least two rolls of film, which will be discussed on the first day
Other materials may be required, which will be discussed during the course

An Introduction to Travel Photography

  • Equipment and film
  • What to shoot
  • When to shoot
Materials needed: A 35mm SLR camera (film cameras (unfortunately not digital) can be borrowed from Zoom In for an additional fee). Film to be discussed during the first session.

Objectives of Module: In this module you will learn what type of equipment you will need to take on your travels. You will understand the differences between a snap shot and a good travel photograph. You will explore the work of great travel photographers and learn tips and techniques to gain the best out of your trips abroad, which you can even apply to your every day photography at home.

Module 209

Travel photography - 2 Assessment

  • Revision of previous module
  • Evaluation and assessment of assignment
Materials needed: A set of prints taken during the assignment following exercises in previous module.

Objectives of Module: In this module you revise techniques learnt in previous session and gain constructive feed back on your assignment. You will present your work for evaluation and receive advice, guidance and pointers on how to take your work forward.
