Exposure considerations for working at night

Practical session outside Zoom In
Materials
needed:
A 35mm SLR camera (cameras can be borrowed from Zoom In for an
additional fee) and a tripod. A hand held flash is desirable but
not essential. Please bring a film of your choice.
Objectives of Module: By the end of this
session, you should have a broad idea of how to expose film at
night. A basic understanding of using flash combined with time
exposure and the most appropriate film to select for the practical
shoots. We will do a test shoot outside Zoom In so that you can
work with a controlled exposure.
Practical Exercise
Shoot one roll of film under supervision and guidance of tutor.

we will take a selection of night photographs using knowledge
gained from session 1. You will gain confidence in using equipment
at night and seeking out suitable locations.

needed:

additional fee) and a tripod. A hand held flash is desirable but
not essential. Please bring a film of your choice this can be
discussed with the tutor in the previous session.
Objectives of Module: At an agreed location
we will take a further selection of night photographs this time,
where possible, introducing hand held flash. You will gain confidence
in using equipment at night and seeking out suitable locations,
this time using flash to help foreground exposure.

Shoot one roll of film under supervision and guidance of tutor.

Night Photography 4 Presentation

Evaluation of work
Materials
needed:
Final prints from assignments shot during the course.
Objectives of Module: In this module you
will evaluate and discuss the work produced by yourself and other
students on the course. You will have the chance to present and
discuss the work shot on location, this session will take place
a couple of weeks after the location shoots. By the end of the
course, you will be able to work confidently on location at night.
You may also have experimented using flash techniques at night.
