Duration of the course
Liquid emulsion is a half day workshop usually taken on a Saturday or Sunday morning. The workshop is made of one module which comprises the following:

• Module 306 - Liquid Emulsion

Aim of the course
By the end of the course you will be able to coat a variety of surfaces with light sensitive emulsion, understanding which surfaces are best suited to the medium. You will be able to print onto different fabrics and and surfaces adhering to correct processing and drying methods.

Materials Needed for the course
Students will need:
A set of good quality black and white negatives and surfaces to print on to. These can be surfaces such as handmade paper, canvas and some fabric. The suitability of surfaces will be discussed on the day but if you are unsure please call us for advice.
Do not open the packet of paper until inside the darkroom or it will be ruined!

Objectives of Module: In this module you will learn how liquid emulsion works. You will examine different surfaces that can be used with liquid emulsion. You will learn methods of coating and applying liquid emulsion to the surfaces you bring to the workshop. You will learn techniques needed for printing and developing your coated papers and you will also recap on printing skills.

Practical Exercise
Printing using liquid emulsion coated on to different surfaces.
