Photographing Works of Art is aimed at the amateur photographer who wants to further their Creative Photography skills, Artists wishing to document their work to portfolio standard, or those wishing to gain professional photography techniques. The Photographing works of Art Workshop is an advanced lesson in photography and is ideal for those who have completed any of our Intermediate Photography camera based courses such as Camera Techniques and those who have a good understanding of their 35mm SLR film or digital cameras manual controls. It is not aimed at beginners. Photographing Works Of Art offers essential skills to those wishing to photograph art. From artists needing to document their own work to photographers wishing to make a career from capturing the art of others, this course is invaluable. You will become fully confident in understanding the appropriate cameras to use, lenses, lighting, film, and framing of subject. You will understand how to select the right camera angles, how to avoid reflection and optimum image reproduction.

You will be able to set up a shoot to photograph both two- and three-dimensional art and understand how to select the right camera angles, how to avoid reflection and achieve optimum image reproduction.

Objectives of the Module
In this module you will learn what camera and lighting equipment you will need to photograph works of art. You will learn which films are appropriate for different artworks and end uses. You will learn how to use a hand held light meter and take appropriate meter readings for different light sources. You will discover how to use tungsten lights, studio flash and how to use lighting positions effectively. You will learn how to best photograph both two and three dimensional works of art.

Practical Exercise
Experimenting with lights and different lighting techniques to photograph two and three dimensional art.
