The Night Photography course is suitable for those of you with a good understanding of camera control, who want to improve the quality of your photographs. You may be a keen amateur photographer who wishes to advance their photography or someone looking to gain professional photography skills. Night Photography course is an advanced lesson in photography and is ideal for those who have completed any of our Intermediate Courses and Advanced Photography camera-based courses such as Camera Techniques, Medium Format Photography, Large Format Photography and those who have an extremely good understanding of their film or digital cameras manual controls. If you have never really used your 35mm SLR film or digital camera on its manual settings before we would advise you to take either Camera Introduction, Camera Basics and even our Basic Photography from our Beginners Courses, which provides students with a grounding in basic camera skills. Night Photography explores the techniques and styles of creating great night shots. This Night Photography course will cover different types and formats of cameras suitable for Night photography. You will learn how to select the most appropriate film to use for a location shoot and compositional techniques to get the most out of your night photography. This course covers theoretical aspects of Night Photography with two practical sessions on location and concluding with an evaluation session. You might also want to take a look at Camera Techniques, Medium Format Photography, Large Format Photography and Landscape Photography.
By the end of the course you will be able to identify the best equipment for night time photography. You will learn about using both available light and flash at night and will have experimented with skills learnt. You will have have an evaluation session to provide valuable feedback on your work with action points for further study.

Objectives of the Module
By the end of this session, you should have a broad idea of how to expose film at night. A basic understanding of using flash combined with time exposure and the most appropriate film to select for the practical shoots. We will do a test shoot outside Zoom In so that you can work with a controlled exposure.

Objectives of the Module
In this module you will evaluate and discuss the work produced by yourself and other students on the course. You will have the chance to present and discuss the work shot on location, this session will take place a couple of weeks after the location shoots. By the end of the course, you will be able to work confidently on location at night. You may also have experimented using flash techniques at night.
