Photography Portfolio

Photography Portfolio Building was created through demand for a course aimed at those who need to develop a portfolio for course applications, agencies, promoting work to potential clients or just for pleasure. Bad presentation can undermine the strength of your work, this course aims to evaluate your work, look at the best ways to edit and assemble your strongest pieces and show your work to its best advantage. You will evaluate what makes a good portfolio, examine your own strengths and weaknesses and work on creating a fantastic presentation of your work tailored to suit your needs whether for work, further educational opportunities or for your own pleasure.


Aim of the course: Photography Portfolio

By the end of the course you will be have created a working portfolio or album. You will understand the principles behind editing your work and presentation techniques. You will receive valuable feedback on your work and how to present it to it's greatest potential. You will present your work to gain feedback and action points for further study and development of ideas.

Objectives of the Module
In this module you will look at the function of a portfolio, whether it will be aimed at potential employers, educational institutions or for personal use. You will also examine the value of sketchbooks. You will look at different ways of building and presenting your portfolio, what format they can take and how they are constructed. You will learn how to plan your portfolio and through evaluating your work shoot more images if necessary. You will look at print quality, format and finish of images for presentation. Through group discussions and Practical Exercises you will evaluate and assess your work looking at strengths and weaknesses and action points for further development or ideas. Through ongoing evaluation during a series of modules you will assemble, assess and fine-tune your work ready for presentation. This course works in conjunction with, but not essentially linked to the '1-2-1 Portfolio Building' session, which is aimed to provide you with one on one personal feedback of your work.

Objectives of the Module
In this module you will look at editing your work and creating a series of images that work together to form a cohesive body of work. You will examine your work and assess what to include, what to exclude, and how to look at images that could be better presented through re-printing/cropping etc. Through group discussions and Practical Exercises you will evaluate and assess each others work looking at strengths and weaknesses discussing action points for further development. Through ongoing evaluation you will assemble, assess and fine-tune your work ready for presentation. This course works in conjunction with, but not essentially linked to the '1-2-1 Portfolio Building' session, which is aimed to provide you with one on one personal feedback of your work.

Portfolio Presentation (Module 309) Show Details Show Details

Objectives of the Module
In this module you will look at alternate ways of presenting your work, though web sites (bespoke and image portals), CD's and slides. You will discuss portfolio interviews and how to lead them. You will also discuss how to talk about your work with those you are presenting it to. You will also discuss ongoing portfolio maintenance and discipline. You will present your portfolio in groups for discussion and final critical appraisal. You will be given final pointers for ongoing portfolio maintenance. This course works in conjunction with, but not essentially linked to the '1-2-1 Portfolio Building' session, which is aimed to provide you with one on one personal feedback of your work.
