Learning with Photography From
Seeing To Showing - The Exhibition -
Saturday 30th August 2:00pm - 5:00pm
From Seeing To Showing took place over the summer of 2008.The aim of this project is, through photography, creative exchange and the building of team-spirit, to promote the idea of volunteering and give the confidence to share with others newly-acquired skills, whilst simultaneously providing young people with a means of self-expression. During the 4 two-week long workshops, around 40 young participants between the age of 9 and 19 years, worked alongside professional photographer Adrian Wood, videographer Denise O'Brien and a team of Zoom In volunteers. They learned basic digital photography and video skills. They were also introduced to Medium Format photography, studio lighting and Black and White printing. Participants attended the project for two weeks. During the first week young learners gained knowledge of photography, including technical camera skills, composition techniques and digital imaging. In the second week they returned as young volunteers and helped the new young learners by demonstrating their knowledge of team building and learning/training skills and their knowledge of photography. The project culminates in an Open
Day run by the young people, which includes photography demonstrations
that display the skills learnt by participants as well as a public
exhibition showcasing the high quality photographs taken during the
project.
